Apple challenged us to find an undiscovered musician, someone whose story could grab people right away and maybe even grow into something bigger, something cultural. This project was a mix of photography and graphic design, but I really wanted the photos to take the spotlight. My goal was to capture the emotion behind the story, those raw, honest moments that make people feel something. Design played a supporting role, helping to bring everything together without distracting from the heart of it all.
The Challenge
Create a visual narrative was the stated objective. It was important to choose the right musician, someone whose love of music served as their motivation. Lachie is fortunate to be alive right now, and without his inner drive and passion of music, he wouldn't be where he is. The emotional content of this endeavour is captured and the rawness of his existence may be seen by viewing the black and white documentation.
